What is a Social Enterprise?

A social enterprise is a cause-driven business with the purpose to make a profit and a positive impact on the world.

Apparel Printing

There are multiple ways to print apparel. These include but are not limited to Heat Transfer Vinyl Printing, Screen Printed Heat Transfer, Sublimation, Direct to Garment, and Screen Printing. Each printing process has its pros and cons based on the needs of the Customer.

Heat Transfer Vinyl Printing

Heat Transfer Vinyl is a specialty vinyl material that is used to decorate or personalize T-shirts, garments, and other fabric items. HTV contains a heat-activated adhesive backing, which allows the vinyl to permanently transfer to your garment when heat pressed with sufficient time, temperature, and pressure.

Screen Printed Heat Transfer Printing

Screen Print Transfers, also known as Plastisol Heat Transfers, are screen printed images that are printed in reverse on transfer paper, placed face down against a shirt, heated, and peeled off to show a beautiful print. Screen printed transfers look, wash, wear and feel exactly like a screen printed t-shirt.

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing uses heat to bring ink and fabric together as one. First, a design is printed onto special paper. The inks that are used turn into gas when brought under heat, then combine with the fabric and permanently print onto the fabric.

Direct To Garment Printing

Direct-to-Garment, or DTG, is a printing method that sprays the ink onto the garment. The ink then soaks into the fibers of the garment.

Screen Printing

Screen Printing is a technique that utilizes a framed mesh screen in conjunction with an ink-blocking stencil to print a desired image.

How is price determined?

As all orders are custom. Pricing is determined based on Setup, Artwork, Size of Artwork, Type of Garment, Fabric of Garment, Size of Garment, Colors of Garment, Printing Locations, Artwork Ink Colors, and Quantity of the order.

Setup: Procedures involved in getting equipment ready to print garments such as preparing the designs, loading/unloading garments, packaging, maintenance, etc.

Artwork: Printing on garments is not the same as printing on a flyer, brochure or business card. If Artwork file is not print-ready for garment printing, then a graphic designer will need to edit the file to make it print-ready.

Size of Artwork: The rule is the larger the Artwork the more paint it will take to cover the garment.

Types of Garments: There are various types of garments (T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, etc). The heavier the garment, the higher the cost. T-shirts are usually the least expensive garment to buy.

Fabric of Garment: The most economical shirts are usually cotton – either 100% cotton or a blend of cotton and another fabric. These are also the most popular items to get screen printed. Special fabric, such as moisture wicking, nylon, etc. will cost more.

Size of Garment: The cost of the garment will depend on the size. Extra large garments are more expense because they require more fabric.

Colors of Garment: Dark  and colored shirts will need an under-base (a layer of white ink under the design to make sure colors stay true) whereas white shirts never need an under-base. Under-basing means the shirts must run through the press an additional time, therefore, they cost more money.

Printing Locations: When a garment is placed on a printing press, it is one job. When you remove this same garment and placed it on another press, it is another job. The more print locations (front, back), the higher the cost.

Artwork Ink Colors: The rule is one screen per color. To print a design onto your shirt, a printer has to separate each color in the design. Each different color being printed needs its own separate screen. The more colors, the more expensive the print.

Quantity of Your Order:  The higher the quantity ordered, the lower the cost and vice versa! Generally, this is because setting up a printing press takes a significant amount of time. The time factor does not change regardless of if you are printing 10 shirts or 1,000 shirts.
